2018 Meeting Dates and Locations:
UPDATE: The combined RCC and HCP meets the second Friday of the month. Officers and Committees from both Coalitions will be meeting in the off months. All meetings are at the Claremore Community Center.
Feb. 15 (Rogers County DHS Office)
With Coalition funds, we were able to be the presenting sponsor of the Claremore West Bend "Winterfest" ice skating rink. This was the first year for the City to have this event, and the Coalition is proud that we were able to support it. This new event at the West Bend Green located outside at the Claremore Expo Center! Winterland was reminiscent of holiday memories with an ice skating rink, pictures with Santa, real reindeer borrowed from the North Pole for you to see and take pictures with up close, shopping from local artisans, a beautiful 50 foot live Christmas tree and more! Families enjoyed skating, hot cocoa and caroling. Because of the major sponsorship, the Coalition was able to have a free skate night for invited guests only. The Coalition focused on families and children at Hope Harbor, clients of Sooner Success and the Department of Human Services, and Parkside.

Valentine's Day boxes donation drive success thanks to Rogers County community and businesses
Thanks to numerous individuals and businesses in the Rogers County area, the Rogers County Coalition was able to surpass its goal of providing boxes of Valentine's Day cards to every elementary school in Rogers County. The goal of the project was to provide Valentine's boxes to children who many not otherwise been able to afford purchasing them. The boxes were distributed to the schools who then identified who the donations would go to. Assisting in the distribution of the boxes were staff members of the Rogers County DHS office. A special thank you goes to these business:

Valentine's Day Card Project:
Like the holiday season, there are families and children who can't afford to purchase needed and wished-for items. Valentine's Day is no exception. There are children who can't afford to purchase the cards for their friends and classmates.
Last year, the Rogers County Coalition stepped-up to fill this gap and asked the community for help to purchase Valentine's Day cards that were then delivered to schools in Rogers county for teachers to provide to students whom they knew needed a little assistance.
"It was a great little project that turned our bigger than we anticipated. We had businesses and individuals donating boxes of cards that were delivered to the schools. We are sponsoring this project again, and would like to ask the community for their help once again," said Tonda Ames, secretary of Rogers County Coalition.
If you, your business or organization would like to help by donating money toward purchasing the cards or would like to purchase boxes of cards, please contact Tonda and she will make arrangements to pick up the cards or donation. Her contact information is: firstname.lastname@example.org or 918-712-0340.
The Coalition would like to have all cards and donations by February 8 so that they can be delivered to the schools on time for Valentine's Day parties.
Feeding Our Friends Partnership Formed for Rogers County Schools
Several county organizations, schools and businesses recently met to organize a "Feeding our Friends" food project. Food has been donated and a storage facility has been identified. Unlike a food pantry, this is a "no questions asked" type of food distribution that also includes personal hygiene products, socks and underwear. If children need it, the food is their's. Organizing the partnership is former Rogers County Coalition president and Claremore community activities Crystal Campbell. For more information contact Crystal at:
